Feel Genuine Joy When People Ask To See Your Portfolio
So many clients come to me because they’re embarrassed by their website. Usually, they feel so overwhelmed by the update process that they just keep putting it off 🙈
That was exactly how Mike felt. His website was 15 years old, not mobile-responsive, and no longer representing the breadth of work produced by his land design firm. When prospective clients and partners asked to see his portfolio, he felt like he was stuck.
"People started asking about our portfolio of projects, and it was frustrating and honestly quite embarrassing that we did not have a current website that met the needs of our clients.”
Despite his old school website, his business was doing well! Mike expected a web design project to be a massive undertaking, and he was already strapped for time because of the firm’s full workload.
“Rachel introduced herself through a short video. She clearly explained the process she uses, went over projects she has completed and took the time to explain some of her thoughts on our website. The 8 minute video intrigued me enough to email her and set up the initial consultation.”
Mike is also a designer, so he was particularly interested in my organized, step-by-step web design process and my tendency toward clear, constant communication throughout my projects.

Right from the start, Mike and I tested and collaborated on a few different design styles to make sure we chose the ones that looked pretty AND spoke to his firm’s culture and personality AND communicated his firm’s unique approach to their land design projects.
“When I started seeing some of the outline of the design I knew that she was grasping what we do, what we needed to tell our clients and how best to showcase our work.”
Now that he’s got a killer new site, Mike loves it when people go to his new site to look at his portfolio!
